VW T4 TRANSPORTER 2.5 TDI 5 CYLINDER LONG WHEEL BASE.

This was my own van and daily user until summer 07 when it was sadly sold.

It started out life as a 99/V builder’s panel van but the rare 2.5 long wheel base version. It had a full respray in VW ‘Paprika’ red which included colour coding of the bumpers & mirrors. It was lowered by 30mm all round and finished off with a set of 18inch wheels  clear indicators and smoked rear lights.

I travelled an 800 mile round trip to Penzance in Cornwall to have the flush fitted bonded windows installed and tinted. The driver’s side window had a built in slider in the flush fitment.

Once the exterior was done I set about designing and building a full camper interior. The van was stripped out and all panels lined with insulation, boarded out and fully carpeted throughout. It was eventually crafted from ‘IKEA’ bathroom units to give it that different look. It was equipped with full size 6ft x 5ft rock & roll bed, stainless sink and hob,fridge,240v hook up, recessed one touch halogen spots , CD system, & drop down LCD TV, The fridge was vented through the floor and the 240v hook up hidden in the chassis leg to keep the van looking good.

The van did a surf tour of Cornwall in 2006 where it attracted some serious attention! (And alloy wheel damage on the mini roundabout at the bottom of Fistral beach!!!)

This is my own car and currently under restoration. It was bought last summer and stored until recently with a view to getting it up and running for the summer if it ever arrives! It was a runner but only just! It is a genuine Karman GTI with original interior with lots of service history. You can see how the car arrived in the first picture. It is now 100% mechanically having needed only a couple of bulbs and a horn switch for the MOT! With a full service a couple of wheel bearings and a rocker gasket she was on the road. (Courtesy of the boys at ‘The Autocentre’ in Darlington) Next we fitted a set of fully adjustable coilovers and lowered the car by around 30mm. Then fitted PCD adapters to take the newly acquired Porsche D90 hand polished rims. (Many thanks to Puneet from the edition 38 forum for the wheels) The rims fitted fine with only some very minor trimming needed to the arches. We then fitted a ‘euro look’ de badged front grill. The car is now about to go in for a full respray before being fitted with its new roof.

 This started out as a standard BMW 328i cabriolet and has undergone some serious modifications. The car is owned by a friend of mine who helps me out with the custom side of things. To keep it brief (because I could write pages on this car) it basically has the original engine and gearbox fitted and has been modified with new suspension all round, exhaust system and 18inch alloy wheels running stretched tyres for clearance. The interior is a work of art! The dash and door panels have been re trimmed in leather along with the seats & finished off with some neat embroidery; the seats have also been upgraded to fully electric. The clocks have been changed for the newer E46 style along with an M3 multi function steering wheel. He is currently re wiring the car (again) to fit a dash mounted DVD/CD player & screen to look like the up to date BMW comms pack screens. This car changes quicker  than the weather so look out for some more pics soon!
